About
Impact Engineering is currently seeking a self-motivated engineer to join our Electrical Engineering practice. The ideal candidate will have a passion for low carbon building design, and for making a positive impact on the environment.
The qualified candidate will work closely with senior engineers to provide electrical design and consulting services for various building projects. The successful candidate will have experience in load calculations, lighting calculations, fire alarm systems, and access control systems. The Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Senior Electrical Engineer (Team Lead) and will be responsible for supporting project design, project management and construction administration.
You are a detail-oriented engineer, with exceptional communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct electrical load calculations for various building types and sizes
Design lighting systems that are energy-efficient and meet code requirements
Design fire alarm systems that comply with the BC Building Code and local fire department requirements
Design access control systems that ensure building security
Prepare construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations
Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other project team members to ensure coordinated design efforts
Review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information during construction administration
Conduct site visits to observe construction progress and provide field support as needed
Maintain project files and documentation in accordance with company procedures
Skills/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
P.Eng in British Columbia, or registered to become one.
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in building electrical design for buildings
Proficiency in electrical load calculations and lighting design software
Familiarity with fire alarm and access control systems design
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
