LABORATORY ASSISTANT 2 – METALLURGICAL LAB
Location: Kamloops, Metallurgy
Reports to: Manager, Metallurgical Lab
General Accountability: Using standard procedures, the laboratory assistant performs all
Paint Pigment Grinding, assists with laboratory testing including flotation, cyanidation and pilot plant operations.
Specific Responsibilities:
knowledge of grind calibrations and laser sizings
Operate 25Kg mill to conduct Paint Pigment Grinding
In training to operate and perform maintenance on flotation machines, cyanide leach rolls, stirred mills, Knelson/Falcon separators, magnetic separator, scales, compressors, filtration system, pH meters.
Training to prepare test work reagents
Training to ensure all prepared and available samples are accounted for in the lab;
Training to maintain and organize inventory of calibration standards, production logs and equipment records;
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the Safety Manual and communicate all safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager.
Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Analytical and mechanical skills;
Quality focused individual;
Organized, highly motivated, detail oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team;
Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;
English communication skills (written and verbal);
MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma
Physical Demands:
Stand for 8 hours per day. Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;
Able to lift filled 20 litre containers (25 kg).

An estimated hourly pay of $24.25 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
