Mac Plastics / Mac Skylights is a First Nations owned provider of custom and production-style plastic products. Along with an almost limitless range of custom product capabilities, we are the Skylight experts in Western Canada. We manufacture and install everything in skylights ranging from small residential dome skylights to huge aluminum framed glass skylight assemblies for commercial projects, and everything in between.

Mac is 100% owned by Dakwakada Capital Investments LP ("DCILP"), a privately held investment firm located in Whitehorse, Yukon. DCILP's sole shareholder is the Champagne and Aishihik Trust, an organization whose purpose is to hold and manage investment and business assets of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations (CAFN).

The Accountant performs a range of finance and bookkeeping activities, including payroll, journal entries, expense processing, credit card statement reconciliation, budget preparation, etc. The role also provides administrative support to the Management Team, manages office supply inventories and service providers / vendors.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Full-cycle Bookkeeping. Entering financial information and transactions into Sage, including accounts payable and receivable. Preparing cheques and electronic payments. Performing bank and credit card reconciliations and managing petty cash. Bank deposits.
  • Preparation of payroll and processing expense claims.
  • Managing calendar for government remittances – payroll, GST and WCB.
  • Working with DCI Group of Companies CFO and external accountants to prepare financial statements and file corporate tax returns.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Performing a wide range of administrative functions, such as filing, document archiving, financial data entry, and monitoring emails, mail, and deliveries.
  • Coordinating third-party and vendor services such as water delivery, photocopier servicing and paper shredding.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree / diploma, or recognized equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Office Administration or similar.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a professional office setting performing similar work.
  • Payroll and Bookkeeping experience with Quickbooks preferred.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Perceptive listening skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; can balance multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll and financial information.
  • Honest, ethical and trustworthy.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • A collaborator, able to build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enjoys coming to work and contributes to an effective, efficient team while also having fun.
