As our Supervisor, Underwriting (Commercial Lines) you will be responsible for supervising all commercial underwriting activities, and providing underwriting expertise, guidance, and advice to the Company. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the commercial underwriting department, serves as a member of the management team and contributes to the development of corporate strategy and future planning.

DIVE IN AND MAKE A SPLASH EVERY DAY, BY:
- Plunging into supervising the daily activities of the commercial underwriting department ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Optimizes commercial underwriting processes to create efficiencies and enhance customer service.
- Provides input into the development of new insurance products
- Participates in the establishment of product pricing and risk selection criteria to achieve the Company's mix of business targets and underwriting profitability objectives.
- Approves distribution of broker materials (bulletins, manuals, etc.).
- Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of underwriting best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Responds to and settles inquiries and complaints from marketing and claims staff, brokers and policyholders escalating to Manager, Underwriting as needed
- Acts as a role model who supports a positive organizational culture.
- Perform other duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING TO SANDBOX:
- Education: A Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
- Experience Counts: Five (5) or more years' claims experience in the property & casualty insurance industry; three or more years underwriting experience.
- Insurance Wizard: Extensive knowledge of insurance underwriting principles and practices, business processing operations and the impact of underwriting on the business of insurance.
- Master Communicator: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and manage multiple tasks and deadlines despite interruption
- Detail Detective: Ability to visualize, articulate, conceptualize, or solve problems by making decisions that are logical and reasonable given the available information.
- People Person: Practices a 'hands-on' approach when directing employees, empowers employees to be successful through training, developing, and coaching. Holds people accountable by ensuring they meet individual and organizational objectives in an appropriate manner. Monitors employee development plans and ensures alignment with department and company goals.
