We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately preparing, processing, and dispatching outgoing shipments, ensuring that all items are accounted for and correctly labeled. You will work closely with our warehouse staff and carriers to maintain a smooth flow of goods. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and excellent organizational skills are essential for success in this position. You will be trained on our specific warehouse management systems and shipping software. Attention to detail is paramount to prevent errors and ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify shipping orders against product counts and descriptions.
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation, including bills of lading and customs forms if applicable.
- Package items securely for transit, selecting appropriate materials to prevent damage.
- Coordinate with carriers for pickup and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the warehouse management system (WMS) in real-time.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of shipping supplies and reorder as needed.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with loading and unloading shipments when necessary, adhering to safe Lifting techniques.
- Troubleshoot any shipping discrepancies or delays and communicate resolutions.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics is a plus.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following Safety protocols.
