We are hiring a skilled Forklift Operator for our busy distribution center in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is essential for the efficient movement of goods within our warehouse. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe and timely handling of materials, supporting both receiving and shipping operations. This position requires a high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. You will operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and products, and transport them to and from designated areas. We expect all our operators to maintain their equipment in good working order and report any issues promptly. A thorough understanding of warehouse layouts and safety procedures is crucial. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
- Transport materials from receiving to storage areas and from storage to shipping docks.
- Stack and stage merchandise in designated areas.
- Perform routine inspections of forklift equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock placement as needed.
- Understand and adhere to all logistics and shipping schedules.
- Adhere to safe lifting practices when handling palletized goods.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience.
- At least 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling procedures.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, including PPE requirements and forklift operation best practices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills.
