About
We are looking for a skilled Forklift Operator to join our busy warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. As a vital member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, stack, and organize inventory within the facility. Your efficiency and accuracy in handling materials are critical to smooth warehouse operations and timely order fulfillment. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, experienced, and possesses a strong understanding of warehouse procedures and inventory management. You must possess a valid forklift certification or be able to obtain one. We prioritize a safe working environment; therefore, strict adherence to all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. This role involves operating machinery safely and effectively, performing routine checks on equipment, and assisting with general warehouse duties as needed. Familiarity with logistics workflows and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform other physical tasks as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas.
- Stack and organize inventory accurately according to warehouse layout.
- Perform daily pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any issues.
- Assist with inventory counts and verification.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Adhere strictly to all safety rules and regulations, including the use of PPE.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Understanding of logistics and inventory control principles.
- Commitment to wearing required PPE.
