Mainroad North Island Contracting LP is offering an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our quality team as a Quality Coordinator. This is a full-time, salaried position located on Vancouver Island in Cumberland, BC, and reports directly to the Corporate Quality Manager.

Mainroad North Island Contracting LP is responsible for delivering the Ministry of Transportation and Transportation's 10โ€‘year maintenance contract for Service Area 3. The North Island Service Area spans the Comox Valley, Gold River, Port McNeill, Port Hardy, and surrounding communities, including several coastal and island communities. In total, Mainroad North Island Contracting LP maintains approximately 3,474 lane kilometres.

What we offer:

  • The salary range for the position isย $58,000 - $72,000 based on experience.ย

What you bring:

  • Educational Background: A diploma in Engineering, Business Administration, or Construction/Project Management is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • Certifications and licenses: ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Certificate is preferred. A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in quality control, ideally within highway maintenance, construction, or a related industry. Field experience is preferred.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in quality control, data analytics, field auditing, and report writing, particularly within highway maintenance, construction, natural resources, or a related industry.
  • Collaboration: Strong relationship-building skills with clients, management, and operations teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong data entry, formatting, analytical skills, and database experience. Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. GIS experience is an asset.
  • Core Skills: Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and administrative abilities. Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills. Meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Contract Interpretation: Ability to effectively interpret and apply contract specifications.
  • Adaptability: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team. Comfort with driving in remote areas and all weather conditions.
  • Safety Commitment: A background in promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends on occasion, as required.

This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Quality Management Program Coordination: Support the implementation and maintenance of the Company's Quality Management Program under the guidance of the Corporate Quality Manager.
  • Compliance Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and report on the Company's adherence to contractual obligations, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the corporate Health Safety Quality and Environment (HSQE) department, as well as operations, fleet, and other departments to ensure effective and efficient conformance.
  • Training & Development: Prepare and deliver staff presentations and training sessions to enhance awareness and understanding of quality standards and procedures.
  • Field Audits: Conduct field audits to see what our workers do, assessing compliance with the Company's quality management system, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Data Management: Assess and optimize data flow, data formatting & analysis, and maintain electronic filing systems;
  • Reporting: Convert information into a format meaningful to the user, prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external use.
