As Malach continues to expand and invest in our people, technology, and processes, we are adding a Safety Coordinator to strengthen our commitment to protecting our team members and building a proactive, prevention focused safety culture. This role ensures our systems grow alongside our business and that safety remains at the core of everything we do.
Your Impact:
The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in protecting the health and wellbeing of every team member at Malach. This position supports the daily execution of our Workplace Safety & Health programs and helps ensure our organization remains safe, compliant, and proactive.
Through regular floor presence, coaching, inspections, and training, this role directly reduces risk, prevents injuries, and builds confidence across the team. The Safety Coordinator helps make safety part of how we work every day, not just a requirement on paper.
This role directly impacts team member safety, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and Malach's ability to grow responsibly and sustainably.

Primary Areas of Influence:
Workplace Safety & Health Program Support:
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Malach's Safety & Health programs, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain safety manuals, forms, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure required postings, records, and regulatory requirements are current.
- Support Made Safe initiatives, audits, and inspections.
- Track safety metrics and provide reporting to leadership.
- Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor to observe work practices and identify hazards.
- Partner with supervisors and team members to improve safe work methods.
- Provide coaching on safe work practices and hazard awareness.
- Reinforce safe behaviours and recognize positive actions
- Act as the first point of contact for safety questions and concerns
- Coordinate and conduct: Monthly workplace inspections, equipment and tool safety checks, Forklift and lift inspections, PPE compliance checks.
- Support hazard assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Identify risks and recommend practical improvements.
- Track corrective actions to completion.
- Lead or support investigations for: Incidents, near misses, property damage events, etc.
- Conduct root cause analysis.
- Develop corrective and preventative actions.
- Maintain investigation documentation and logs.
- Share learnings to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate safety onboarding for new team members.
- Deliver or schedule required training including: WHMIS, LOTO, forklift, PPE, emergency procedures, safe equipment operation.
- Maintain the training matrix and certification tracking.
- Ensure compliance with Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health legislation.
- Support the Workplace Safety & Health Committee.
- Assist with agendas, minutes, and action tracking.
- Maintain Safety Communication Boards and postings.
- Share monthly safety updates, snapshots, and learnings.
- Support safety engagement activities and campaigns.
- Maintain: Inspection logs, incident records, training records, corrective action logs, compliance documentation, etc.
- Prepare safety reports and summaries for leadership.
- Support ISO 9001 and internal continuous improvement initiatives
- Team members feel comfortable raising safety concerns.
- Hazards are identified early and addressed quickly.
- Training and certifications stay current.
- Incidents and near misses trend downward.
- Safety documentation is organized and audit-ready.
- Safety becomes part of everyday conversations and decisions.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health legislation.
- Experience supporting inspections, investigations, and training.
- NCSO, CRSP, or working toward certification considered an asset.
- Approachable and relationship-focused.
- Strong communication and coaching skills.
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Organized with strong documentation abilities.
- Comfortable facilitating training and group discussions.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and tracking tools.
- Able to balance compliance with a people-first approach.
Working Conditions:
- Regular time on the manufacturing floor.
- Exposure to noise, machinery, and PPE requirements.
- Walking, standing, and light lifting.
- Occasional schedule flexibility for training or incident response.
