Job Description
Catering Manager (Full Time)
Through your passion and motivation, you will provide memorable experiences to guests who stay in your property. You are professional and knowledgeable about your property, and you build strong relationships and create bonds with your guests.
What You Will Be Doing
Reporting to the Director of Catering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Review, coordinate, and manage all meeting and event bookings as assigned by the Director of Catering by communicating between the client and the hotel throughout the preplanning and execution phases
Communicate all details of assigned groups to all departments in a professional, thorough and timely manner by effectively using group resumes, banquet event orders and internal correspondence
Manage and execute the terms of the contract for the program as outlined by the Sales Manager and/or Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards to ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out and to maximize function space for the highest profitability for the hotel
Monitor and manage guest room pick up and wash according to history, actual and contractual agreements for assigned events/groups to ensure a more accurate forecast
Conduct necessary site inspections, create event floor plans and upsell the hotel's services, suggesting suitable menus, events and activities.
Establish and nurture strong business relationships with clients, key industry suppliers and preferred vendors to further increase sales leads for the hotel
Maintain a high level of service standards as outlined by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards, and measured by JD Powers and Associates
Attend weekly/monthly departmental communication meetings, follow departmental policies and procedures, follow all safety policies
Other duties as assigned
Physical Aspects Of Position (included But Not Limited To)
Frequent sitting throughout shift
Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all time
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
Previous leadership experience within a similar role required
Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
Previous experience with Opera Cloud system an asset
University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all time
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents
