About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering student to join our team for a 4-month work placement. This role offers a hands-on learning experience working directly with our Maintenance team, providing exposure to real-world manufacturing, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful student will gain a valuable blend of engineering theory and practical application, contributing to maintenance optimization, system improvements, and cross-functional projects that support both Operations and Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Maintenance team and plant leadership, the student will support initiatives including but not limited to:

  • Assisting with preventive maintenance (PM) tracking and streamlining maintenance documentation
  • Supporting upgrades and improvements to computer-based maintenance tracking systems (CMMS)
  • Working hands-on with the Maintenance team on equipment repairs, troubleshooting, and inspections
  • Assisting with maintenance documentation, work instructions, and process mapping
  • Supporting Quality initiatives, such as helping identify and eliminate equipment-related issues from an operator perspective
  • Assisting the Maintenance Lead with various maintenance and reliability initiatives
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects focused on efficiency, uptime, and safety
  • Gaining exposure to plant operations, equipment reliability, and manufacturing best practices

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program
  • Eligible for a 4-month co-op or internship placement
  • Strong interest in maintenance, manufacturing, or industrial operations
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on plant environment
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CMMS or technical documentation is an asset
