About Maverick Games

Maverick Games is a fast-growing, Ontario-licensed iGaming operator offering a premier online casino and sportsbook experience. We operate in a dynamic, data-rich environment where rapid insights power decisions across marketing, product, operations, and finance. You'll join a lean team where your work will have a direct and measurable impact.

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable Freelance Data Analyst to take ownership of our reporting landscape. This is a part-time engagement (roughly 20 hours per week) focused on the delivery of approximately 60 key reports.

You will be working on reports across player activity, marketing funnels, payments, retention/churn, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is someone who can balance high-level data architecture with the hands-on execution of recurring reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report Management: Take end-to-end ownership of ~60 recurring reports, from data ingestion and transformation to final delivery and maintenance.
  • Pipeline Development: Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines and ETL workflows using SQL to ingest data from gaming platforms, CRM systems, and external providers.
  • Automation: Automate reporting workflows using SQL, schedulers, and APIs to minimize manual effort and ensure timely delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Own regulatory reporting pipelines for Ontario (iGO) and other jurisdictions, ensuring audit readiness and clear data lineage.
  • Data Modeling: Develop analytics-ready datasets (facts, dimensions, aggregates) that serve as the "single source of truth."
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner with Marketing, Product, and Finance to translate business questions into scalable data models.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement validation checks and reconciliations to ensure 100% data accuracy across all financial and operational reports.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years in data analytics, analytics engineering, or data engineering with a focus on production data pipelines.
  • Python Proficiency: Strong ability to build ETL/ELT jobs and automation scripts.
  • Advanced SQL: Expert-level skills in designing queries for performance and correctness.
  • Technical Literacy: Familiarity with version control (Git) and data modeling principles.
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex data into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Availability: Consistency is key. You must be able to commit to approximately 20 hours per week on an ongoing basis.

Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience in iGaming, sportsbook, fintech, or high-volume payment environments.
  • Experience with iGO (Ontario) regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Marketing analytics experience (attribution modeling, conversion funnels).

Project Details

  • Engagement: Ongoing freelance contract.
  • Workload: Approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Rate: $ per report, depending on difficulty
  • Note: While remote, we have a preference for candidates based in Canada to align with our licensing and time zones.
