The General Accountant is responsible for supporting the company's financial operations through accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

This role has the possibility of rapid advancement in the company as we grow, so we are looking for someone who is ready to learn and grow with us

This position is on-site in Montreal, QC (Near Peel Metro Station). Please note that we do not accept remote or hybrid candidates at this time.

Financial Accounting Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis and investigate variances.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper documentation for all transactions.

Accounts Payable

  • Review, record, and process invoices and expense reports.
  • Ensure vendor payments are accurate and timely.

Compliance Internal Controls

  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and standard accounting practices.
  • Support audits (internal and external) by preparing required documentation.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of internal controls.

Analysis Support

  • Prepare schedules and reports for management as needed
  • Collaborate with departments to provide financial information and operational support.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian & US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc).
  • Close attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be available for occasional overtime during the monthly/annual close.
  • Excellent communication skills in English to collaborate with cross-functional teams, as well as external partners and clients who are based in the US.
