About
Transitions Learning Services is looking to expand its growing team of tutors to help students achieve their academic goals.
We have immediate openings for high school math and science tutors (Functions, Advanced Functions, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), but tutors for other subjects and grades can also forward their resumes to us.
As a tutor at Transitions Learning you will:
- Guide students one-on-one or in a small group setting to help them understand course materials, complete homework, and prepare for tests
- Help build students' confidence in their skills
- Monitor and assess student learning using our FAST assessment tool
- Develop progress reports to be able to give quality feedback to students/parents
Candidates for this positions must have:
- Either an undergradute degree or be enrolled in a post-secondary program
- Strong knowledge in tutoring subject(s); i.e. Functions, Advanced Functions, Data Management, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc.
- Excellent communication skills to be able to explain difficult concepts to students in a way that is easy to understand
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills to identify and assess gaps in learning
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience
- Background in Psychology or Behavioural Science is an asset*
- Experience working with children with Autism or other Learning Differences is an asset*
Tutors should be able to teach in-person at our centre located in Scarborough for this position.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
