Electrical Supervisor
Location: SGF project Barrow in Furness
Salary: £24.39 per hour (Plus £2.34 out of town allowance (if in lodgings), £1.71 second tier payment, £0.75 retention bonus, £49.27 lodge allowance)
Job Summary
The Electrical Supervisor oversees a team of electricians and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed to specification, on schedule, and in strict accordance with the latest electrical codes. This role combines high-level technical expertise-often including specialized industrial knowledge like ATEX with project management and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and coordinate the daily activities of electricians and apprentices.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce health and safety standards, including Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), and ensure all work adheres to BS 7671 (18th Edition) and industry regulations.
- Project Planning: Develop work schedules, estimate materials and labour, and plan project execution from inception to completion.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify the quality of workmanship and sign off on electrical testing and commissioning paperwork.
- Technical Support: Provide troubleshooting for complex system failures and interpret design schematics or blueprints for the team.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate site reports, records, and certificates
- Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for project managers, clients, and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications (2026 Standards)
- Core Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or a valid JIB Gold Card.
- Technical Certification: Current 18th Edition (BS 7671) (desirable) Level 3 Award in Inspection & Testing (C&G 2391).
- Supervisory Credentials: Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or similar qualification is often mandatory.
Essential Skills
- Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor a diverse workforce under pressure.
- Problem-Solving: Proficiency in advanced troubleshooting of industrial control systems, PLCs, and machinery.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting to management and briefing teams.
- Digital Literacy: Competence in project management software and Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems.
