Location: Barrow-in-Furness / Hybrid (3 days on site)
Salary: £45,628 – £61,500 (Commensurate with skills and experience)
What You’ll Be DoingAs a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our electrical engineering standards and processes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Defining site standards: Establish technical requirements for equipment, systems, and facilities.
- Conducting reviews: Assess design proposals to ensure compliance with standards throughout the lifecycle of equipment and facilities.
- Producing documentation: Create technical reports and documentation to support engineering processes.
- Problem-solving: Provide input on engineering issues and challenges.
- High Voltage expertise: Serve as the point of contact for High Voltage standards related to site electrical systems.
- Leading improvements: Chair and lead initiatives to enhance policies, equipment, and capabilities while ensuring compliance with regulations.
We’re looking for a talented electrical engineer who brings:
- High Voltage experience: Proven expertise with 11kV systems.
- Industrial engineering background: Familiarity with commercial standards in an engineering environment.
- Educational qualifications: Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent (e.g., HND with relevant experience).
- Professional registration: Registered with an engineering professional institute, with the potential to achieve chartered status.
- Leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to lead within an engineering context and knowledge of British standards.
- Technical proficiency: Proven experience in a technical role with transferable skills, such as assurance.
- Nuclear environment experience: Familiarity with ONR License Conditions or similar highly regulated sectors is desirable.
