Contract: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

About the School

Located in Burnley, our school has a proposed capacity of up to 48 pupils, providing a safe and supportive environment for children aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Your Role and Responsibilities
  • Maintain clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
  • Perform cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
  • Supervise school cleaning staff and promote health and safety around the school.
  • Manage porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
  • Report any issues regarding the premises to the Head Teacher.
  • Carry out small repairs and DIY projects, and arrange larger repairs with contractors.
  • Conduct daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking and waste disposal.
  • Ensure emergency cleaning duties are performed, such as gritting and spill clean-ups.
  • Organize an annual deep clean of classrooms and frequently used areas.
  • Maintain cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
  • Act as the main key holder, securing the school premises as required.
  • Conduct regular checks of security systems, fire safety appliances, and perimeter fencing.
  • Advise the Head Teacher on all matters related to school security and safety.
  • Perform regular health and safety checks and report any issues.
  • Provide safe access to the school during cold weather conditions.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience in a school environment is preferred.
  • Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with SEMH children.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • A valid UK Driving License and own transport are essential.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check, with costs covered by Polaris.
