Your Mission:As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring safety and compliance while pushing the boundaries of engineering excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Design and analyze complex steel structures using Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards, employing FEA and classical calculation methods.
- Apply your knowledge of regulations, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, and Weld Specifications.
- Utilize computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
- Support the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures.
- Produce concept drawings and technical outputs that align with contractual requirements, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
- Check and approve calculations to maintain the highest standards of quality.
Essential:
- BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
- Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
- Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
- Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
- Experience in a production or marine production environment.

As part of a dynamic team of designers and engineers, you will conduct engineering assessments that support the submarine build process. Collaborating closely with the design team, you will contribute to the development of equipment and provide essential operational support for safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates across all submarine roles.
