As an Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and monitoring of budget variance analysis, cash flow, financial reporting, revenue audits and internal controls. You will play a critical role in helping us manage our finances effectively and make informed decisions about our business.
Responsibilities
Preparation of month end journal entries and working papers, balance sheets reconciliations, income statements comparison analysis, and cash flow statements
Preparation of board presentation and related financial reporting materials
Month end rent roll reconciliation and credit card reconciliations
Manage multiple entities and intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Prepare payroll reconciliations, including salary expenses, vacation/sick time accruals, benefits etc.
Supervise and review daily operations and provide guidelines for bookkeeping
Document accounting procedures including internal controls
Arrange for completion and filing of monthly and quarterly WCB and GST tax filings
Liaises with external auditors and prepares working papers as requested.
Report to the health authorities as required
Other duties as assigned to support accounting and operational requirements
Qualifications And Experience
Minimum of three (3) years full cycle accounting experience is required
Completion of accounting or finance diploma or degree is preferred
Completion of Chartered Professional Accountants designation is preferred
Experience with multi-site senior housing is preferred
Superior interpersonal skills to interact with internal employees and external vendors
Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrating strong attention to detail and accuracy
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
Comprehensive knowledge of financial, property management and IT management best practices
Strong technical aptitude and work experience with technical applications and systems including Excel and accounting software
