The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically driven Structuring Analyst to join our Structuring team. This role is designed for individuals with a strong foundation in energy markets, quantitative modeling, and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will support the evaluation of new structured deals, optimize existing asset portfolios, and generate actionable trade ideas across natural gas, crude, and power markets.
This position blends commercial structuring with market analysis and trade strategy development. You will work closely with traders and originators to identify opportunities, automate data workflows, and deliver insights that drive profitability and efficiency. Additionally, the Structuring Analyst must effectively present their findings from complex analysis to various stakeholders, including senior management.
What You'll Do
Use simulation modeling, statistical analysis, and conventional financial valuation techniques (such as DCF and financial statement analysis) to support deal pricing
Develop and present trade strategies across commodities, leveraging statistical, technical, and fundamental signals. Deliver ideas with clear risk/reward profiles and supporting analysis
Use quantitative modeling to scrape market data, automate data pipelines, and build tools that enhance visibility into trade positions, asset utilization, and market trends
Evaluate and structure internal and external assets in the energy sector
Lead transaction teams with commercial and analytical expertise, oversee and guide valuation modeling assumptions and analysis, and continuously improve analytical processes
Develop a deep understanding of TC's power trading business, exposures, strategies and market fundamentals
Work across gas, power, and crude teams to unify structuring efforts and deliver integrated commercial solutions
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in Finance, Business, Economics or Engineering
2-5 years of experience in this environment
Experience managing dynamic workflow and multiple projects
Demonstrated in depth knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and associated infrastructure supporting those trading marketplaces
Demonstrated ability to automate workflows and build analytical tools that improve commercial outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Math, Finance, MBA, Engineering or Economics or related quantitative discipline.
Working towards or recently attained a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
Functional knowledge of Lower 48 Gas system, Transportation and Storage Intrinsic and Extrinsic analysis as well as ERCOT, SPP, PJM, and MISO power markets
Experience in an energy trading & marketing business and understand how value is derived
Understanding of complex gas transactions such as Transportation and Storage, heat rate call options (HRCOs), revenue puts, and energy asset management agreements
