Job Summary:
The Cook Chill Food Production Center is located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time. Civeo Premium associates do not have any interaction with, nor access to, inmates.
We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the coordination of production and sanitation functions within Food Services. This role plans and leads daily production meetings with all departments, monitors tray room, dish room, shipping, and sanitation activities, and works closely with Production Managers and Tray Assembly Managers/Supervisors to ensure meal production targets are achieved while all procedures and policies are consistently followed.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP/SQF requirements, food safety legislation, sanitation standards, and environmental regulations.
Conduct audits, daily verifications, mock recalls, and CCP documentation reviews; ensure timely corrective actions.
Oversee quality assurance activities, including retherm testing, returned product investigations, and audit reporting.
Monitor production inputs, processes, and finished products to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
Compile, analyze, and report operational, quality, and compliance data to leadership and regulatory bodies.
Support new product development, specifications, and production procedures, including client taste testing as required.
Collaborate closely with Production, Purchasing, and Food Services leadership to support operational success.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement across processes, work methods, and procedures.
Lead training programs for new hires and ongoing staff development; maintain accurate training records.
Provide leadership to a large, unionized workforce, including staffing, scheduling, performance management, and discipline.
Enforce occupational health and safety and WHMIS requirements; ensure safe work practices, PPE use, and incident reporting.
Administer collective agreements, company policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and government or ministry stakeholders as required.
Assume senior leadership responsibilities, including acting for the Assistant Director of Food Services, as required.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Food and Nutrition Services Diploma from an approved Community College and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.
Thorough working knowledge of food service IT systems (preferably FoodCo).
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing work routines or priorities.
Must possess excellent organizational skills.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Positive attitude and a genuine desire to serve customers.
Demonstrated labour relations experience in a unionized setting.
Exceptional interpersonal skills required.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Advanced FST a must.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driver's abstract meeting company safety criteria.
Successful completion of vulnerable sector check, criminal record check and other security clearances are required for employment in this role.
