What You'll Be Doing:As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures. Your expertise will directly support submarine builds through:
- Design & Analysis: Utilize Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards for FEA and classical calculations.
- Regulatory Expertise: Apply your knowledge of regulations beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER and Codes of Compliance.
- Data Interpretation: Use computer-based analytical techniques like finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
- Support Manufacturing Processes: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation of submarine structures.
- Technical Outputs: Produce concept drawings and layouts that meet contractual requirements, deadlines, and budgets.
- Quality Assurance: Check and approve calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Essential:
- BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
- Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
- Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
- Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
- Experience in a production or marine production environment.

The Production Engineering Department Team:As part of our dynamic Production Engineering Department, you will collaborate with a talented team of designers and engineers. In this rapidly growing environment, you will conduct engineering assessments that support the build process and contribute to the development of safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for eligible submarine roles.
