As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in enriching the learning experiences of pupils with diverse special educational and learning needs.
This position is based at Kirkby Moore School , where you will support teaching staff in fostering independence and encouraging full participation in the curriculum and school life.
Your ResponsibilitiesAs a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, your day-to-day duties will include:
- Providing individualized support to pupils in various settings, including classroom, lunch, and social times.
- Accompanying pupils on organized school visits.
- Collaborating with the SENDCo to develop social skills and appropriate behavior.
- Participating in the creation and monitoring of personalized learning programs.
- Supporting pupils who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Helping to address issues that cause anxiety or emotional responses.
- Maintaining accurate records as required by the school.
- Engaging in collaborative planning with teaching staff for effective support.
- Assisting in the delivery of the Key Stage 2 and 3 curriculum.
- Contributing to KS4 programs of study.
- Participating in working groups as needed.
- Being an integral part of a flexible and supportive team that embodies our school ethos.
- Attending weekly staff meetings and relevant INSET/CPD events.
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- Relevant experience in a similar environment or appropriate qualifications.
- Academic qualifications to at least GCSE standard and professional qualifications to at least NVQ level 2, or proven competency in a similar role.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- The ability to work independently and maintain high accuracy in record-keeping.
- Strong time management skills and flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within a busy team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse contexts (pupils, parents, colleagues, etc.).
- A willingness to undertake relevant training for personal development.
- Knowledge of child development and different learning styles is a plus.
- Understanding of ACES or the impact of childhood trauma is beneficial; training will be provided.
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle due to location.
- A willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check upon successful application.
