About

As a key member of GFL's dynamic team, the Technical Coordinator possesses thorough knowledge of hazardous waste industry and associated regulations. They will assist with the proper and compliant movement, costing, and profiling of wastes for multiple GFL locations across Western Canada. The chosen individual will professionally represent GFL when dealing with internal employees and on client sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor management administration and profiling of waste streams.

  • Ensuring costs within the regional operational program are accurate with review and system update monthly. Update pricing team and LOB Managers if any changes are made.

  • Contact for any waste stream that needs assigned cost and code (technical assistance). Research likely required for certain waste streams.

  • Contact for regulatory questions and assistance within regionally assigned areas.

  • Spot audits of transport documents for regulatory and pricing accuracy. This will involve all line of business documentation.

  • Cross training to assist with coverage area (BC, AB, SK, MB) when other technical team members are away.

  • Potential training of staff members for specific topics decided upon by the technical team and GFL management.

  • Specialized waste projects as required by management (this may include some field work).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Post-Secondary education in environmental sciences, chemistry or equivalent an asset

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hazardous waste management related settings

  • Regulatory and technical knowledge with respect to the hazardous waste industry within the assigned region, hands on field experience in hazardous waste collection and disposal

  • Willingness to work longer hours or weekends occasionally as business demands

  • Class 5 driver's license

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong computer skills with effective use of Google sheets and Gmail

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently and in a team environment
