Kitchen Assistant Department Head Trainee

T&T Supermarket Inc. was found in 1993 with two stores in BC.  Since then, it has expanded rapidly to become Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 27 stores across the country: 12 in Metro Vancouver, 6 in Alberta, and 9 in Ontario (7 in GTA and 1 in Ottawa, 1 in Waterloo).

Major Responsibilities

1. Maximize customers' satisfaction, build rapport with our customers by providing good smile, eye contact and attention to them; provide excellent customer service
2. Learn and subsequently assist the Department Head to manage the assigned department performance and attain its goals
3. Learn and subsequently assist the Department Head to manage merchandises, place orders, plan and execute promotional activities to achieve department goal
4. Learn and subsequently assist the Department Head to manage and supervise assigned department daily operation and staff performance
5. Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance and supervision to department staff
6. Collect and analyze market information, and design response measure
7. Oversee product quality, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department
8. Promote teamwork and create an inclusive working environment
9. Maximize customers' satisfaction, build rapport with our customers by providing good smile, eye contact and attention to them; handle customers' complaints, if any
10. Conduct quality control during receiving; manage inventory in both the display and walk-in coolers, if applicable
11. Lead by example by performing all hands on duties required in the assigned department
12. Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

1. Preferred to have at least 2 years of supermarket or chain store fast food restaurant operating experience
2. Possess a keen interest in the supermarket / retail business
3. Preferred to have completion of post-secondary or above education
4. Accountable, pleasant and flexible, always take initiative with great leadership skills
5. Possess great interpersonal and customer service skills
6. Good communication skills, possess strong verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin)
7. Possess good computer skills in MS Office
8. Good organization, and problem-solving skills
9. Able to work independently and within a team
10. Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours and statutory holidays
11. Ability to work at different store locations as assigned
