We are strengthening our finance leadership team following a recent transition and are seeking a hands-on Controller to provide stability, discipline, and execution excellence as we continue modernizing our systems and processes. YOUR ROLE IN THE COMPANY:
As our Controller, you will report to the Director of Finance and take full ownership of the general ledger, financial reporting, and a wide range of core accounting activities. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Your leadership will be essential in navigating our current transition, modernizing our financial landscape, and supporting the organization's scalability.
AS WELL AS:
· Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process, including year‑end close for multiple entities and consolidated statements.
· Prepare and/or review account reconciliations and journal entries, ensuring the close is completed accurately and on schedule with clear explanations for material variances.
· Own the chart of accounts and all aspects of the general ledger, ensuring complete and accurate support for all transactions while maintaining a structure that supports management reporting, budgeting, and margin analysis.
· Prepare documentation and provide comprehensive support to external auditors throughout the annual assurance engagement.
· Oversee intercompany accounting, ensuring timely reconciliation and resolution of all intercompany balances.
· Own inventory accounting, including reconciliations, reserves, and controls, partnering closely with Operations to achieve and sustain strong inventory accuracy.
· Oversee and execute bi-weekly payroll processing and annual T4 and W-2 filings, ensuring total accuracy and regulatory compliance.
· Ensure timely and accurate statutory reporting in Canada and the U.S., including sales tax and payroll compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
· Supervise and coach a team of four finance professionals, conducting annual performance evaluations and fostering a positive, professional team culture.
· Support the VP Finance and Director of Finance in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting by coordinating inputs and providing accurate data to inform decision-making.
· Collaborate with various departments to clarify variances, identify issues, and support agreed-upon corrective actions.
· Serve as the first‑level resource for resolving finance‑related ERP issues, coordinating with internal and external resources for timely escalation and resolution.
· Review, improve, and document key accounting processes to ensure continuity, consistency, and scalability across the department.
· Partner with the Director of Finance to transition the department to new software platforms and support the reimplementation of the existing ERP.
· Develop and maintain business processes and accounting policies that strengthen internal controls and support financial reporting accuracy.
· Conduct detailed analyses of operational and financial performance to identify areas requiring corrective action and support management decisions.
· Prepare ad‑hoc analyses and reporting for senior leadership as required to support strategic initiatives.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
· University degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
· CPA designation is required.
· Minimum of four years of experience as a Controller, specifically working within a multi-currency environment.
· Strong analytical, financial, supervisory, and administrative capabilities.
· Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to understand and adapt to evolving organizational needs.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
· Experience with JD Edwards, UKG Pro, and Planful is considered a strong asset.

Reports to: Director of Finance
Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Salary Range: $90k-$120k
