Border Security Specialist

As a Customs and Border Protection Officer, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. You will be responsible for enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.

You will facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel while conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances. Your duties may include determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States; preventing the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods; as well as detecting smuggling attempts involving narcotics or other contraband.

• Detaining suspected violators using proper law enforcement methods;
• Enforcing laws relating to importing/exporting merchandise;

The ideal candidate must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in law enforcement skills such as interviewing suspects).

A master’s degree (or higher) can substitute for up to two years' worth
of relevant work experience. In addition, candidates with an LL.B.
or J.D.
degree from an accredited college/university may qualify under certain circumstances.
