The Opportunity:

The Customs Compliance Intern will support the Trade Compliance team in managing Canadian import compliance activities. This role will focus on import documentation review, record retention controls, and Harmonized System tariff classification support. The position provides practical exposure to customs governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance in a corporate environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with review and validation of Canadian import documentation, including commercial invoices and customs coding
  • Support tariff classification research using the Harmonized System and CBSA guidance
  • Help maintain and organize import records in accordance with Canadian record retention requirements
  • Assist in preparing documentation for potential CBSA verifications or internal compliance reviews
  • Support data analysis related to import transactions and customs declarations
  • Help update internal classification databases and compliance tracking tools
  • Participate in broker communications and follow up on missing or incomplete documentation
  • Support special projects related to strengthening the Canadian import compliance program
  • Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a post secondary program in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Law, or a related field
  • Requirements:

  • Available for a 8-month term beginning May 2026
  • Strong interest in international trade, customs regulations, or regulatory compliance
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Analytical mindset with ability to research and interpret technical information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
