About

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to develop a conceptual 3D design for a head camera module. The project involves simplifying existing optics and designing a high-mobility gimbal system with a dynamic aerodynamic seal.
Scope of Work:
Lens Housing Optimization: You will be provided with a 3D model of a thermal imaging lens. This needs to be simplified and redesigned into a lightweight, conical barrel housing while maintaining the correct lens placement.
2-Axis Gimbal Design: Integrate the optimized lens into a 2-axis (Pitch/Yaw) gimbal system. The gimbal must provide a wide range of motion: ±40 degrees on both axes.
Dynamic Aerodynamic Fairing: Design a specialized fairing (shroud) that moves in synchronization with the lens. The goal is to minimize aerodynamic drag while the lens protrudes. The fairing must effectively seal the internal cavity of the module across the entire range of motion to prevent airflow ingress (consider radial shingle or "mechanical scale" designs).
Requirements:
Proficiency in SolidWorks
Experience in designing gimbals, robotics
Understanding of aerodynamic constraints and moving mechanical assemblies.
Ability to work with existing 3D models (STEP/IGES) and provide clean, assembly-ready conceptual designs.
Deliverables:
Optimized 3D CAD model of the lens housing and gimbal assembly.
Conceptual design of the articulating fairing.
Brief technical explanation of the movement mechanics.
Contract duration of less than 1 month.
Mandatory skills: SolidWorks, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, 3D Modeling
