About
Migrate an existing client website from Joomla to WordPress using Elementor Pro, while keeping the site's design exactly the same and protecting SEO through a complete redirect plan and metadata preservation.
This is a re-platforming, not a redesign.
Current Site Scope
• ~28 total items
o 6 core pages (built in Elementor, pixel-perfect match)
o 22 news articles (to become WordPress Posts)
o 1 article layout/template for the news posts (Elementor Theme Builder)
Non-Negotiable Requirements
1) Pixel-Perfect Design Match
• The new WordPress site must look exactly like the existing site.
• No changes to layout, typography, spacing, colors, or UX without written approval.
• Allowed "improvements" must be invisible (cleaner structure, responsiveness, performance).
2) Elementor Pro
• Elementor Pro must be used as the editor (license provided).
3) SEO Preservation
• Migration must be executed in an SEO-safe way with complete URL coverage and validation.
Deliverables
1. WordPress site rebuilt
• 6 pages rebuilt in Elementor Pro to match the existing design exactly
• Global header/footer and reusable components done properly (no messy Elementor builds)
2. News articles migrated as Posts
• Import the 22 articles into WP as Posts (not Pages)
• Preserve formatting, featured images, inline images, and any categories/tags if applicable
• Build the single post template (and archive/news listing template if needed) to match the existing site design
3. 301 Redirect Map + Implementation (Mandatory)
• Create a redirect map for every legacy Joomla URL (pages + posts + key assets if needed)
• Implement redirects (plugin or server rules depending on hosting)
• Ensure no broken links remain after launch
4. Metadata Migration (Mandatory)
• Migrate meta titles, meta descriptions, and image alt text
• Preserve canonical logic where appropriate
5. Performance + Responsiveness
• Configure caching and basic optimization
• Optimize images and avoid Elementor bloat
• Fully responsive across desktop/tablet/mobile
6. QA + Proof
• Provide a pre-launch crawl and post-launch crawl report (Screaming Frog or equivalent) showing:
o legacy URLs redirect correctly (301)
o no critical 404s
o key pages/posts accessible and indexed-ready
Timeline
• Target completion: 2–3 weeks from kickoff, assuming timely access and approvals
Contract duration of less than 1 month.
