Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, CAD will be responsible for administering the CAD environment and providing user support.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
What you'll do
- Support the CAD software implementation / integration with all VSY systems.
- Support for CAD database setup / management / administration.
- Maintain / update / tailor CAD library, CAD parts catalogues, system specifications, CAD templates, CAD standards.
- Work directly under a senior CadAdmin and support with daily assignment.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring
- Enrollment in 2nd year and above year Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related Engineering degree program.
- Excellent problem solving & communication skills (written & spoken) are a must.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as C#, PowerShell, Python, SQL, Java.
- Develop, generate or produce automatic extraction of CAD reports to support business needs.
- Experience in MSSQL and CAD scripting languages, LISP, Diesel, SQL, VBA considered an asset.
- 3D model generation and optimization via Rhino, AutoCAD 3D, Inventor is considered an asset.
- Power BI knowledge is alco considered and asset.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
Start Date of Internship: Monday, May 4th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, August 28th, Months) or Friday, December 18th, Months).
