We are seeking a Business Analyst with a strong understanding of Capital Markets to join our Initiatives and Project Delivery team. As part of the Capital Markets Office of the Chief Operating Officer (OCOO), the Project Delivery team plays a pivotal role in driving strategic execution of change and new products/systems implementation across BMO Capital Markets.

As a Business Analyst within CM OCOO, you will leverage your expertise to deliver innovative solutions that align with organizational goals. The role will involve working in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and analytical thinking are essential for success. Additionally, you will foster strong relationships across departments to ensure seamless project delivery as you bridge the gap between business objectives and technology solutions.

The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders to identify business needs, analyze processes, gather and document requirements, translate them into functional specifications, and ensure successful implementation of projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

This role requires you to:

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, processes, and workflows.
  • Develop functional specifications and business cases to guide solution development.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings to elicit information and validate requirements.
  • Conduct gap analysis and recommend process improvements or technology solutions.
  • Support project implementation by coordinating testing, training, and change management activities.
  • Assist in the deployment of appropriate methodologies and governance tools, to drive the timely delivery of analysis and agreed solution approach (operational and technology driven)
  • Have a strong understanding of Capital Markets and build relationships with stakeholders across the organization
  • Assist in the development and delivery of impactful communications and presentations to cross-functional team members and senior stakeholders
Qualifications and Skills

Core Requirements

  • University degree and minimum of 5+ years of experience in a BSA or Senior BA role within Capital Markets
  • Strong understanding of the front-to-back trade lifecycle
  • Experience with Derivatives, Fixed Income, and Equities asset classes
  • Proven experience with Business Analysis tools such as Confluence, Jira, SQL
  • Experience with process mapping and workflow automation
Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess information, evaluate risks, and make informed judgments. Can approach problems from multiple perspectives and demonstrate sound reasoning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; including the ability to understand and effectively communicate impacts and implementation solutions with the business
  • A high level of professionalism, ethics and integrity
Nice to Have's
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP, or similar.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
  • Exposure to Capital Markets front and back office systems

Please note the base salary for this role is $125,000 CAD

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
