ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Summer Student – Asset Management Office (AMO) supports the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of Ontario Northland's asset management practices. The role assists with maintenance and reliability analysis, refinement of Work Execution Management (WEM) standards, preparation for ERP/EAM project activities, and supports the adoption of new processes across operations. The student contributes to improving asset data quality, supporting AMO governance, and developing insights that strengthen ONTC's ability to manage asset health, performance, and lifecycle decisions.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance, Reliability & Asset Health Support
  • Assist with maintenance and reliability analysis, including reviewing work order trends, failure patterns, and asset performance.
  • Support creation of asset-specific health summaries, such as State of Good Repair (SOGR) metrics and condition trend insights.
  • Assist with trending and benchmarking aligned with AMO KPIs and the EAM Report Dictionary.
  • Help asset analysts prepare insights and presentation materials for leadership on asset health and performance.
Asset Data Quality & Standards
  • Help validate asset registers, condition scores, and support data collection for initial and ongoing EAM data loads.
  • Perform basic checks against the Asset Data Standards TM to identify missing fields, attribute inconsistencies, and data gaps.
  • Support clean-up and standardization activities across asset hierarchies and maintenance related data sets.
EAM / WEM / SCM Adoption & Process Standardization
  • Support the refinement of Work Execution Management (WEM) standards by helping review current vs. future state workflows.
  • Assist AMO with EAM adoption activities, including running onboarding refreshers (WEM basics, data quality expectations, HxGN navigation).
  • Support creation of job aids, data spys, and quick reference sheets for supervisors and technicians to improve process consistency.
ERP / EAM Integration & Program Support
  • Help with data mapping between EAM and ERP modules.
  • Assist with testing related activities by gathering data, preparing analysis files, or supporting UAT preparation as needed.
  • Provide general support to the AMO in preparing materials for cross-functional workshops, readiness assessments, and project deliverables.
Collaboration & Documentation
  • Participate in requirements discussions with maintenance, supply chain, and operations groups to document process needs.
  • Maintain organized AMO folders (SharePoint/Teams), support version control, and help keep reference materials up to date.
  • Support continuous improvement by recording issues, adoption barriers, and opportunities identified during end-user interactions.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience in Excel (pivot tables, data cleaning, basic analysis).
  • Interest or coursework in maintenance, reliability, asset management, or industrial engineering (asset).
  • Familiarity with data structures, KPI logic, or system workflows (EAM/ERP concepts an asset).
  • Comfortable communicating with operational users and documenting processes.
  • Willingness to learn new tools such as HxGN EAM, Power BI, ERP modules, and ONTC's AMO standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, manage tasks independently, and handle confidential data appropriately.
