Job Description

The Accounting Technician is responsible for the rigorous and efficient processing of the accounts payable cycle, bookkeeping, and operational support for accounting activities. They play a key role in meeting deadlines, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and continuously improving accounting processes.

This role combines accounts payable tasks, reconciliations, and the processing of accounting transactions, in collaboration with both the finance and operations teams.

What You'll Do

Accounts Payable (primary mandate)

  • Process and verify supplier invoices, ensuring compliance with purchase orders, contracts, and internal policies.
  • Perform accounting coding and enter invoices into the ERP system.
  • Prepare and execute payments (cheques, direct deposits, transfers).
  • Monitor accounts payable, discrepancies, and outstanding invoices.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve billing issues.
  • Process and review credit card accounts and expense reports.

General Accounting Support

  • Prepare journal entries and verify supporting documentation.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and accounts payable reconciliations.
  • Support internal teams in validating expenses and accounting allocations.

Optimization and Compliance

  • Contribute to improving financial processes (payables, credit card workflows).
  • Participate in the implementation, integration, or optimization of accounting systems (ERP and financial tools).
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and tax requirements related to accounts payable.
Qualifications
  • DVS, ACS or DEC in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role (accounts payable or bookkeeping).
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (ERP) – experience with Dynamics/Great Plains is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, rigor, and professional autonomy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual in English and French, both spoken and written, to support stakeholders in Québec and across Canada.
