The Opportunity

The Manager - IT Hardware Support ensures the availability of appropriate end-user and retail IT equipment and that it is in place to support current and future business requirements. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the design, installation, and connectivity of end user and retail computer systems and related infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the NSLC's IT assets. This role is responsible for end user computing, retail IT operations, print services and other electronic components and effectively leading a team that supports the NSLC's end users through means of both ad-hoc and ticket-based requests.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and execution of the NSLC's end user and retail IT operations roadmap
  • Under the direction of the Director - IT Operations and Cybersecurity, manage the team that supports the NSLC's end user and retail operations IT equipment
  • Leverage technical expertise to support all team members roles and functions
  • Ensure the availability of the supporting end user and retail technical infrastructure to support information processing requirements
  • Plan and execute projects within the IT Operations team, including all aspects of project budgeting; ensuring any budget impacts or adjustments are escalated to the Director - IT Operations and Cybersecurity
  • For internal supported systems, recommend the design and procurement of technical equipment to meet current and future information processing requirements
  • Ensure regular maintenance of NSLC end user and retail IT equipment
  • Ensure compliance of our computing environment with current standards and audit requirements
  • Provide input on future information technology directions; recommend budget expenditures and work within the budget to support IT computing and processing needs
  • Communicate information effectively through clear and concise messaging to convey complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives
  • Oversee components of the various support contracts and relationships with external parties dealing with design, change, provision and support of end user and retail operations
  • Select and oversee appropriate specialty consulting skills where needed
  • Recommend requirements for services providers and lead the selection process for provision of service providers

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Recommend budget expenditures for business projects within the Business and Technology Solutions team, where required
  • Understand key business processes and corporate plans and recommend improvements to the information technology environment to keep pace with industry standard practices and
  • business objectives
  • Provide input to the planning, design, and implementation of end user and retail IT operating plans with project teams
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What you'll need
Qualifications

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Information Technology
  • 5-7 years experience deploying and supporting end-user IT systems

As the ideal candidate, you will also have:

  • Experience at the Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager level in the support of applications and/or hardware
  • Retail POS experience
  • Experience working with end-user productivity suite software, such as Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience in establishing IT support processes and the regular reporting of support metrics through a ticket-based environment
