Fresh Start Foods Canada Ltd was founded in 1993 to provide Foodservice Customers with a fresh alternative. An outstanding supply network, efficient distribution through our three regional locations, and our thoroughly modern processing plant are all part of our commitment to provide the freshest fruits and vegetables possible.
Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking a full time Quality Control / Quality Assurance Technician to join our team based out of our Milton, Ontario location.
Position: Quality Assurance Technician
Schedule: Sunday through Friday: 6 AM to 3 PM
with Saturday and another weekday off (Depends on the Business Needs).
Salary: $23/h
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the on-going development of the Quality Assurance Program.
Perform daily quality inspections, evaluation of retained sample, random product inspection, returned product inspection, newly developed product shelf life.
Ensure cleaning procedures are followed and sample submission to 3rd party lab for micro testing.
Perform verifications of CCP's, thermometers, pH meters, scales etc.
Ensure all daily records are completed accurately and within time.
Perform/Assist in internal audits/inspections such as ;GMP, Food Safety, SQF system etc.
Handle confidential information in a professional and sensitive manner
Monitor and meet our customer Micro and all other Specifications.
Communicate effectively with different departments to report any non-Conformances eg. product quality, GMP etc.
Provide training and support to staff on quality, food safety, GMP programs.
Other related duties as directed by Quality Control Manager
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Bachelor diploma preferably in Food Science/QA
Working knowledge of SQF / BRC
Ability to develop QA training programs and presentations
Adaptable - able to work within a changing environment and be a leader in initiating change
Ability to make decisions, take initiative, provide direction and communicate with different departments.
Team player – ability to work in a team environment
Able to handle multiple tasks / projects within short timeframes
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Excellent organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Strong computer skill
