What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Collateral Risk Analytics is a strategic role that combines rigorous data science with business impact in Home Equity Finance, a critical area of the bank that manages one of the largest asset classes at RBC, with $400+ billion in mortgage loans. In today's volatile housing market environment—marked by rapid price changes, regulatory scrutiny, and shifting credit dynamics—this position offers a unique opportunity to develop and champion thought leadership in the property valuation and collateral risk management space.

You will produce sophisticated analytics, develop data-driven insights, and drive strategic recommendations that directly influence home equity lending decisions across RBC. This role offers exceptional visibility to senior stakeholders, enabling you to shape the future of collateral risk management practices within the organization. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and develop emerging analytical talent through mentoring responsibilities, cultivating your people leadership capabilities as you advance your career.

What will you do?

  • Build and maintain knowledge and proficiency in RBC's home equity lending policies and regulatory requirements to ensure the collateral practices adhere to regulatory guidelines and RBC's risk framework

  • Manage quarterly performance dashboards and reports that track key risk and business metrics, turning data into clear insights that drive meaningful discussion on collateral risk management with senior leadership

  • Support the transformation of HEF's Property Valuation strategy by evaluating current eligibility rules, proposing new rules or processes, and assessing the associated potential incremental risk, to support business objective of improving model usage while maintaining a risk-based approach and adhering to RBC Risk Appetite

  • Lead the annual review of our loan-to-value tiering strategy to identify opportunities to drive further optimization between risk mitigation and competitiveness

  • Evaluate other risk management tools and practices to assess their effectiveness and recommend optimizations where appropriate

  • Identify emerging areas of collateral risk such as climate risk and assist in the development of new data and strategies to mitigate these risks

  • Ensure quality and compliance by documenting all critical processes and maintaining organized records in line with RBC's governance framework and regulatory requirements

  • Streamline reporting processes through automation and process improvements, working with the analytics team to eliminate inefficiencies and liberate capacity for strategic work

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 5+ years of analytics and strategy development experience, preferably in the areas of risk or/and product management

  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, SAS, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Expert problem-solving skills including understanding of credit risk fundamentals and financial modelling

  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships (e.g. with stakeholders, credit bureaus, and remote teams)

  • Ability to design and deliver compelling presentations to senior management and other stakeholders

  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and accurate work with the ability to multitask and shift priorities

Nice to have:

  • University degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g. statistics, engineering, economics, finance, computer science) – to demonstrate ability for critical thinking, data analytics and financial modeling

  • Experience with modern analytical tools and technology stacks; Python, GitHub, AWS, HDFS, etc.
