BORDER PATROL AGENTS PLAY A KEY ROLE IN ENFORCING U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS LAWS.
- This career ladder position starts at a GS-5 grade level and progresses to GL-9, Gs11, and Gs12 levels as agents gain experience.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of Border Patrol Agents is to detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws.
- Detecting signs of human trafficking or smuggling attempts along the border,
- Interrogating individuals who are attempting to cross the border illegally,
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, applicants must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
