Position Overview
Decisive is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role provides essential accounting support and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
The Junior Accountant plays a key role in balance sheet reconciliations, period-end journal entries, internal control compliance, and financial reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills, sound accounting fundamentals, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving unusual entries and variances.
Prepare and post period-end journal entries, including accruals.
Ensure validity and accuracy of transactions posted to balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Maintain and adhere to proper internal controls for financial functions, including journal entries, timecard approvals, PO/invoice approvals, and access rights.
Support the Controller in preparing and reconciling monthly, quarterly, and year-end account files and reports.
Process employee expense entries, rebate reconciliations, travel expenses, and related financial transactions.
Prepare payments, tax remittances, banking transactions, and payment runs.
Develop ad hoc Excel reports and financial analyses as required.
Contribute to improvements in financial processing and operational procedures.
Qualifications
University degree or College diploma in Accounting or a related field.
4–7 years of experience in accounting roles.
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits and subledger-to-general-ledger reconciliations.
Working knowledge of internal controls and foundational understanding of IFRS and revenue recognition principles.
Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF statements).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently analyze complex issues and implement solutions.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Sound judgment, independent thinking, and openness to new ideas.
Desired Assets
CPA designation obtained or in progress.
Experience with ERP systems or financial software implementations.
Experience with NetSuite.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.
Additional Requirements
Ability to analyze complex accounting issues and implement solutions independently.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong time management and prioritization skills in a deadline-driven environment.
Compensation
$50,000 – $60,000
