Title: Junior Data Engineer (IBOR)
Duration: 2-month initial contract + 6-month extension (8 months total potential)
Location: Downtown Toronto, ON
Hybrid Work Model: 4 Day/week Onsite, 1 Day WFH

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
The Junior Data Engineer will assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, supporting data ingestion and transformation workflows, and troubleshooting data quality issues. They will write and enhance SQL and Python (or Java/Spark) code, support data modelling efforts, and work with AWS data services such as S3, Athena, Glue, and data lake/lakehouse tooling. The role includes close collaboration with senior engineers, participation in technical discussions, and ongoing learning in modern data architecture and distributed systems.
Must-Haves:
Foundational SQL skills
Python (data engineering/data management focus) OR Java with Spark
Understanding of data engineering fundamentals and distributed data processing
Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS preferred)
Strong learning mindset, curiosity, and ability to self-teach
AWS experience (S3, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation concepts)
Experience with Spark, Scala, or PySpark
Exposure to data lakes, lakehouse architectures, or Apache Iceberg
Plusses / Nice-to-Haves:
Financial services or investment data exposure
Familiarity with data governance or data cataloging concepts
