Accounts Payable Clerk

Full Time Term Position – January 2027 

Thompson, Manitoba

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Accounts Payable Clerk will complete account payables for MKO and assist the Finance department with day-to-day operations. The A/P Clerk with complete tasks with efficiency and be detail oriented.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Receive all completed payment requisition for processing cheques, electronic funds transfers (EFT).
  • Assist with payment requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Communicate any concerns immediately to Accounts Payables Officer.
  • Book flights when required.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Match purchase orders to invoices as received verifying invoice details against purchase orders to ensure all is in order; and making appropriate enquiries regard discrepancies.
  • Request supporting documentation when information submitted is inadequate.
  • Route cheques for mailing/distribution with appropriate instructions.
  • To be cross trained with other positions to ensure MKO can continue operations uninterrupted in case of staff absence.
  • MKO is political advocacy organization that works to represent the leadership and member First Nations. All staff at MKO may be given other duties as assigned that enable MKO to fulfill the mandate and responsibility to its member communities.

Education and Experience

  • Formal training in the area of accounting and/or minimum one year' related experience or equivalent combination of education related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Experience issuing payments in a computerized environment.
  • Working knowledge of Sage 300 Advanced (ACCPAC Version 2016), will train.
  • Efficient, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving ability with a demonstrated commitment to deadlines, accountability, and details.
  • Excellent time and resource management and strong program administration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check upon hiring.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience
