With offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Genies has raised $200M from notable investors including Silver Lake, BOND, NEA, and Bob Iger.Genies is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to help contribute to the current and future growth of our technology platform powering our AI/ML systems. As a Senior Backend Engineer here at Genies you will help play a vital role in solving complex technical challenges that Genies backend services encounter while we scale and grow our product suite, and also play an integral part in the growth of our engineering organization.Seated in either our SF Bay Area office (San Mateo) or Los Angeles based HQ, and reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, our ideal candidate has extensive experience with languages like Golang, Python, or C++. They have development experience in compute heavy areas such as AI and Graphics. They are great leaders with the ability to influence their peers and mentor other team members. At the same time they enjoy hands-on coding, designing and working with APIs for both internal and external consumption, and thrive in solving really fun and challenging technical problems.What You'll Be Doing:Develop backend microservices and systems supporting mobile and web applicationsDesign and develop ML infrastructure systemsDesign and develop ML applicationsAutomate, test, and deploy well-designed infrastructure, code, and services at scaleProfile and optimize for load, latency, reliability, availability, fault toleranceApply best practices in all aspects of web application development including security, testability, release management, live opsCollaborate with product and engineering to gather requirements and refine backlogCollaborate with team members on architectural designs and code reviewsWhat You Should Have:Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field3+ years professional experience as a software engineerExperience with ML systems and heavy compute workloadsStrong programming skills with proficiency in Python or GolangSolid foundation in data structures and algorithmsDevelopment experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud PlatformExperience in developing, designing and working with Rest APIs, distributed NoSQL and relational databases, caching systems, event-driven and multi-tier architecturesExpertise in applying software patterns and Microservices patternsKnowledge of cloud security best practices and cost-effective cloud architectureFamiliarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as codeSelf-starter, analytical, creative, highly motivated with an innovative spiritExcellent communication skillsHow Genies will support youGenies is a well-funded, growing start-up that cares deeply about each of our employees' growth and success. The actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including: professional background, training, transferable skills, work experience, education, location, business and product needs, and market demand. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
