Software Engineering Intern (Summer, 10 weeks) — Agentic AI driven Vulnerability Monitoring & Auto-generate PRs Join our engineering team to build an agentic workflow that continuously monitors for new vulnerabilities across our repos and dependencies, proposes fixes, and opens high-quality PRs with tests and clear remediation notes. What you'll do * Implement automated dependency + CVE monitoring (SBOM, advisory feeds, repo scanning) * Design an agentic pipeline to: detect → triage → propose patch → run tests → open PR → summarize risk/impact * Integrate with CI/CD and developer tooling (GitHub/GitLab, checks, notifications) * Reduce false positives via heuristics, policy rules, and confidence scoring Required skills * Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python and/or * Comfortable with Git, PR workflows, and CI systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.) * Working knowledge of software security basics: CVEs, dependency vulnerabilities, versioning/semver, patching strategies * Ability to write reliable automation, tests, and clear technical documentation Nice to have * Experience with tools like Dependabot/Renovate, Snyk, Trivy, Grype, Semgrep, CodeQL, or similar * Familiarity with containers (Docker), SBOM formats (CycloneDX/SPDX), and package ecosystems (npm, pip, Maven, etc.) * Exposure to LLM/agent frameworks and tool calling (LangChain, OpenAI-style function calling, etc.) Logistics * 10-week summer internship (location/on-site: Toronto, Canada) * End-of-internship deliverable: a working project with metrics (coverage, precision, time-to-PR)Why Proofpoint?
