WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Senior Accountant role supports the Capital Markets Broker Financial Control team on corporate accounting responsibilities, month end close, financial reporting and ad hoc tasks as assigned.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Point of contact for the US Financial Control and Regulatory reporting teams for the monthly reporting
  • Responsible for recording and settling intercompany transactions including chargebacks from other entities
  • Work closely with the Transfer Pricing team and global finance counterparts to ensure accuracy and consistency for intercompany transactions
  • Prepare intercompany loan interest schedule, book associated monthly interest and settle interest when due
  • Daily SharePoint Loan review and confirmation
  • Monitoring of intergroup reconciliations, investigate and clear breaks on a timely basis, prior to month end close
  • eGLIS clearing
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of regulatory reports including ROU and FAS5 reporting and variance analysis
  • Responsible for reviewing and booking accruals for various expenses including market data, legal, audit and regulatory accruals ensuring accuracy with proper controls in place
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of Legal Reserve and Provisions roll-forward schedules
  • Responsible for the monthly reporting of lease activities and disclosure requirements
  • Work with operations to process journal entries for clearing fees, brokerage charges and other applicable invoices
  • Prepare and maintain proper supporting documentation for all journal entries processed
  • Review assigned balance sheet accounts for illogicals, booking reclass entries where needed
  • Prepare month end reconciliations including substantiation of assigned balance sheet accounts for monthly sign offs
  • Assist with updating procedures for all tasks and work on continuous process improvements
  • Ensure adherence to accounting requirements and firm policies

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 4+ years general accounting experience with exposure to month end close
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills
  • Well organized with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with teams across the firm, including operations, product control, technology, and head office teams
  • Strong excel skills and aptitude to learning new system

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge PeopleSoft general ledger preferred
  • CPA
  • Financial Services industry experience
