Description Design & Support Engineer Location:
York, PA - In Person
Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role Precision Custom Components (PCC) is a leading manufacturer of custom-fabricated pressure vessels, reactors, casks, and heavy-walled components supporting highly regulated defense and industrial applications. PCC is seeking a Design & Support Engineer to develop and evaluate unique, first-of-their-kind designs that support machining, welding, assembly, testing, material handling, and facility operations.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in complex, non-repeat design environments, understands manufacturability in heavy industrial settings, and is motivated to ensure designs are safe, structurally sound, compliant, and fully documented. What You'll Do
Design and support in-house machining, welding, assembly, testing, shipping, and material-handling fixtures Develop layouts and support plant modifications, new building construction, and manufacturing process improvements Perform design calculations, structural and thermal simulations, and prepare technical design reports Support compliance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (Section III and Section VIII) Generate and review 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using GD&T standards Provide technical guidance and design support to manufacturing and engineering teams Review and check drawings, models, simulations, and calculations generated by others Recommend and implement improvements to manufacturing methods, equipment, and workflows Act as a Load Test Examiner, supporting test setup, procedures, training, and execution Act as a Derivative Classifier, reviewing, classifying, and redacting controlled and classified technical documents Collaborate with Project Engineering, Quality, Weld Engineering, Materials, Suppliers, and Manufacturing Provide task estimates and support project planning efforts Mentor and train less experienced engineers as needed Must-Have Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline FE / EIT certification (PE license required within 5 years of hire in Pennsylvania) 2+ years of experience in design, mechanical, structural, manufacturing, or industrial engineering Strong understanding of engineering design principles, drafting standards, and GD&T Proficiency in 3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, and simulations Experience with structural and thermal analysis Authorized to work in the U.S. and capable of holding a security clearance Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with ASME pressure vessel or nuclear-grade components Familiarity with heavy fabrication, welding, and machining environments Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics, and wood Exposure to HBMs, gantry mills, VBMs, or large-scale manufacturing equipment Prior experience supporting classified or defense-related programs Who You Are
