Border Patrol Agents are responsible for protecting America's borders and preventing illegal activities.

This is a career ladder position with progression opportunities to higher grade levels, including GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for promotion without reapplying once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level.

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration laws


• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens at or near the borders


• Gathering information through observation, examination of documents, and records


• Maintaining composure in stressful situations

PnThe typical assignments include farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, transportation checks as well as patrolling international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets such as vehicles,
horses
vessels,
atvs,
snowmobiles
motorcycles.
pYou will receive training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia,NM , covering topics such as law enforcement operations,
driver training,
course instruction.,
