About
About Us:
Atura Power is helping to build a more sustainable energy future for Ontario by efficiently operating its fleet of natural gas assets to support renewable energy growth and the transition to a net-zero economy. As part of our growing Business Development team, we are actively developing hydrogen and electricity projects that support grid reliability, sustainability and affordability. We're seeking a motivated and agile engineering intern to support these efforts and grow alongside our innovative team.
About the Role:

You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help evaluate, plan, and advance new hydrogen and electricity infrastructure projects (wind, solar, gas generation and battery energy storage) across Ontario. Although the role is based at our Oakville head office, occasional travel to project sites across the province is required.
This internship is ideal for a third-year student in mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering who is interested in the clean energy transition and enjoys working across both technical and commercial aspects of energy project development.
Start Date: May or September 2026, Internship of 12 or 16 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and execution of new hydrogen and electricity projects, including planning, data analysis, technical input, and market research.
- Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and project managers to develop business cases, technical plans, and feasibility assessments.
- Analyze energy systems and decarbonization opportunities, including the integration of hydrogen into electricity markets and industrial applications.
- Maintain organized technical documentation, drawings, and references in line with internal standards.
- Contribute to the evaluation of new technologies and market trends relevant to hydrogen and power generation.
- Assist with presentations and project documentation to support internal decision-making and external stakeholder engagement.
- Travel to operational and proposed project sites in Ontario as needed.
- Follow Atura Power's engineering, project management, and change control processes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently enrolled in Year 3 of an accredited Engineering program (mechanical, electrical, or environmental preferred).
- Registered in a co-op/internship program through your academic institution.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada (citizen, PR, or valid work permit).
- Valid G-class driver's license and access to a personal vehicle (project sites are not accessible via public transit).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio).
Preferred:
- Interest or coursework in energy systems, hydrogen, or sustainability.
- Familiarity with project engineering or power sector operations.
- Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, VBA, or basic programming languages (C#, C++, Java) is an asset.
Why Join Us?
At Atura Power, you'll gain exposure to cutting-edge clean energy projects, from hydrogen hubs to decarbonization of Ontario's power system. You'll contribute meaningfully to a cleaner energy future while developing practical engineering, business, and project development skills.
