Secure the Border

• Detect, question and inspect individuals suspected of violating customs laws to determine citizenship or violations.


• Prevent undocumented noncitizens from entering or leaving the country at borders by maintaining surveillance using infrared scopes during night operations.


• Analyze tracks, marks and other physical evidence related to illegal entry or smuggling activities.


• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways on various government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels etc. for law enforcement purposes.

This is a career ladder position with grade level progression opportunities after 52 weeks in each grade level. Successful candidates will undergo approximately six months of intensive training at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico before starting their duties.
