Responsibilities We are looking for PhD students to join us for the National Security Internship Program (NSIP) within the AIDA Division. Interns will engage in solving intricate problems related to national security, energy, and scientific research. Responsibilities will include: Applying advanced research techniques to develop solutions that strengthen national safety. Writing and optimizing complex code for diverse computational challenges. Participating in cyber competitions to test and enhance skills. Creating innovative visualizations to interpret complex data. Managing and analyzing large datasets in various domains. The internship will begin in cohorts starting May or June 2026. Diverse Focus Areas:
Your internship may align with one of these six technical groups: Math, Stats, and Data Science:
Use mathematical modeling, computational statistics, and more to solve complex problems across various domains. Applied AI Systems:
Develop robust AI models that transform extensive data into meaningful insights for decision-making in sponsor systems. Foundational Data Science:
Innovate algorithms and tools to address persistent challenges in data processing and decision support. Software Engineering & Architectures:
Create high-quality, scalable solutions using best practices in software development and cloud technologies. Human Centered Computing:
Design engaging visualizations and interfaces that enhance user interaction and data analysis. Operational Readiness & Enablement:
Develop and implement cloud-first, scalable analytics solutions tailored for operational needs. This position is based in Richland or Seattle, WA, primarily on-site, with remote work considered only in special circumstances.
