We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. As a Receiving Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and proper documentation. Your role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of our inventory and supporting the smooth operation of our warehouse. You will be responsible for unloading trucks, verifying incoming goods against purchase orders, inspecting items for damage, and accurately entering data into our warehouse management system (WMS). This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to safety protocols. You will work closely with other warehouse departments to ensure timely processing of goods and address any discrepancies promptly. Adherence to all company policies and procedures, especially regarding safety and handling of materials, is paramount. We expect our team members to be proactive and contribute to a positive and productive work environment. Proper use of required PPE is mandatory at all times. Expect to be involved in various aspects of receiving, including organizing the receiving dock, managing returns, and assisting with inventory counts. Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight efficiently and safely.
- Verify shipment contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies and report any issues.
- Accurately record received items into the WMS.
- Tag and stage incoming inventory for put-away.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed (training provided).
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, drivers, and internal teams.
- Ensure all required PPE is worn correctly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or receiving environment preferred.
- Familiarity with WMS is a plus.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
